Adding a new sense of realism, EA Sports "uses DynaScan's 360-degree walk-around display to let users interact with a photo-realistic recreation of basketball star Dwyane Wade. A depth-sensing video camera allows them to walk up to the screen and gesture to D-Wade — shoot the j or wave hello. But the real star is Wade, or rather, his digital replica, constructed using EA's most sophisticated facial animation technology. It feels like you and an NBA All-Star, one on one."
The interactive element of the DynaScan display instantly engage the audience. "Little kids seem to love the head the most. After walking up, Wade's eyes seem to register your presence and then he suggests that you try taking a jump shot. Wade's eyes look up as if following the shot, then judges it, including one dismissive deadpan, "That was lucky"... when the kiosk's 3D camera notices a person approaching too closely, and Wade leans forward and snarls."
